great resource to get non-birders get hooked on bird identification. Just enough info here to be useful (love that identification is by bird colors)....Many other resources out there to get much more involved if that sparks interest. Nice gift for grandchildren who love the outdoors as ours do. And for us - who have those more detailed catalogs - to get to right section quickly when we have those lovely creatures in view.
18 pages. 18. That's it.Each page has a half dozen birds with one picture each (two if the female looks significantly different than the male). Each bird has a 2 to 6 word description. Typical description might be, "Green forehead, forked tail", or "Red cap", or "Blue bands on wings."That's it.Saved from single star by color coding. That is actually pretty cool.
I am just a beginner at Bird watching and this little book is a great starting point! I am already getting interested in a somewhat more advanced book! The pictures are pretty good and I've been able to identify several birds in our yard, a couple of unusual ones for Yuma!!
Definitely a quick guide - few details. Disappointed that it does not have birds of prey - hawks in particular.
