Great book! There was a lot of information presented in an easy to follow layout. So much I could relate to about dieting mistakes in the past. This had a lot of practical information that I could use beginning today to improve my health and nutrition! Even being someone who knows a little about nutrition and tries to eat healthy, I learned about some ideas and ways I have been using that are outdated and can change for the better. This book is motivating as well. I really enjoyed this authors writing style too.
This is a great book that tackles the complex issue of fat loss very effectively.Rare is the nutrition book that is both fun to read and packed with useful, immediately applicable information. This is such a book.I find it hard to take nutrition and exercise advice from someone who doesn’t look the part. The author not only achieved professional status in bodybuilding herself but has maintained a very lean physique for a lifetime.The author has clearly been in the trenches helping everyone from super athletes to joe and sally average to get leaner and improve their health. It’s interesting how they both deal with the exact same challenges. Biochemistry is biochemistry.Filled with useful anecdotes, this book covers lots of topics such as:-the role of hormones in fat loss and gain-the role of stress in making fat loss difficult-an excellent and detailed (but very clear) discussion on how water retention REALLY works and how to take control of it-what REALLY dampens metabolism instead of the often blamed culprit: agingI really enjoyed the fact that this book covers all aspects of fat loss - from nutrition to exercise to physiological factors. This is important because true, sustainable fat loss requires attention to all factors and the author covers each in depth.I think this author meant to write a book for people who “have been around the block†a few times when it comes to dieting but it can also serve as a primer for beginners that want to skip over the common mistakes and just do things right the first time.
Over the course of my decades within the fitness industry, I have not found a book that got to the source of why we gain/lose weight....until now. This is not a fad diet book, it is a book that goes far beyond that in explaining why all the calorie counting and cardio will not help you achieve your goals unless you change the way you look at food and how you eat. I love that Joanne breaks it down into terms that make sense and that how stress can play a role in not losing weight. I read the book through and have started it again to take more notes. By applying the things that she talks about into your daily life, you will feel better, look better and extend your longevity into your golden years.This book is a must have for anyone serious about taking better care of your body and looking and feeling your best. Thank you Joanne Lee Cornish for this treasure.
What a great book! It’s a book I wish could be implemented into schools as nutrition is so important and knowledge is power. If our younger generation read this it would really change things! She explains things so well and made over complicated things simple. I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading it and could see myself in all of the different scenarios as I’ve already experienced a lot of it. I loved the part about being dropped from the sky and getting directions to the beach! I wish I could have read this years ago! I’ve known Joanne for almost 20 years and her knowledge is powerful! This is a definite must read book! I miss you at Golds! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! It’s priceless! â¤ï¸
Wonderfully written book packed full of great information. As a nutritionist I would highly recommend this book as it’s everything you need to know . Only complaint is she basically has subtle undertones of fat being the answer to all your problems which is not 100 percent true . I’m sure if she add another chapter about each meal plan types and why one may or may it be right would have made the book a 5!
